How to gift Oculus games to other players
The Oculus (and VR gaming in general) is still pretty new to a lot of people. How we game, and how we shop – a lot of us are still figuring it all out. If you’re wondering how to give someone an Oculus Quest game as a gift, you’re not alone. The process is a little less intuitive than on other gaming platforms, but thankfully, Meta has made it easy.
There are two super easy ways to get someone an Oculus game as a gift.
Method #1: Send them an Oculus Store gift card
Oculus, or Meta Quest, gift cards, are available for purchase online through several retailers, including the Meta Quest store, Game Stop, and Amazon. All you need is the recipient’s email address to send them their gift card.
Meta Quest gift cards can be used to purchase digital content only, not hardware and accessories, such as headsets and other gear. If you want to give someone a gift card they can use to buy a Meta headset, you’ll need to give them a gift card to an authorized Meta/Oculus Quest retailer.
Use the ‘Buy for a friend’ option
If you have your own Oculus Store account, you can use what’s known as the ‘Buy for a friend’ option to purchase games for others. Here’s how it works:
Go to the Oculus Store, and log in to your account.
Find a game you want to buy for someone, and navigate to the game page.
In the right side bar, click on ‘Buy for a friend’, and follow the prompts to complete the purchase
You’ll need the other player’s email address in order to complete the gift purchase. If the other player doesn’t redeem the gift within 30 days, the gift will expire, and you will be refunded.
